Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Anaheim

Night view of Los Angeles city lights from Griffith Observatory terrace

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is an interactive space adventure where glowing targets, spinning star cruisers, and the lively energy of Pixar's Toy Story universe turn guests into Space Rangers on a mission to defeat the evil Emperor Zurg.

Located inside Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park just steps from Star Tours and near the entrance to Space Mountain, this fast-moving attraction places riders inside two-person star cruisers equipped with laser blasters. The moment the ride begins, the mission is clear: travel through a glowing galaxy filled with robots, alien worlds, and animated targets while firing lasers to score points and help Buzz Lightyear save the universe. The star cruisers rotate freely, letting riders aim their blasters in every direction as flashing lights and arcade-style sounds fill the darkened scenes. The result feels part ride, part game, and entirely playful.

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters debuted in 2005 as part of a major update to Tomorrowland, transforming the space previously occupied by an earlier Disney attraction into a fully interactive ride experience.

The concept draws from the Toy Story films, where Buzz Lightyear serves as a heroic Space Ranger sworn to protect the galaxy from the villainous Emperor Zurg. Imagineers designed the ride to feel like stepping into a giant arcade game, combining traditional ride scenes with interactive laser targets that allow guests to compete for points. Each star cruiser includes spinning controls so riders can rotate their vehicle toward targets hidden throughout the scenes. Points accumulate as guests hit different targets, and the final score determines each rider's rank within the Space Ranger Corps.

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters fits perfectly into a full adventure exploring the futuristic attractions of Tomorrowland.

Start by exploring Tomorrowland near the central plaza between Space Mountain, Star Tours, and the Astro Orbitor, where sleek architecture and glowing lights frame Disneyland's vision of the future. After enjoying nearby rides, climb aboard a star cruiser and begin the mission to defeat Emperor Zurg while competing with friends and family for the highest Space Ranger score. The flashing lasers, spinning vehicles, and lively competition create one of Tomorrowland's most energetic attractions.
