The property began in 2011 when its first owner expanded his Milan apartment into several personally furnished suites; the hotel eventually reached 32 rooms, and The Doping Club developed inside it amid objects gathered through travel, antique markets and specialist shops. AtelierP worked on The Yard and The Doping Club, with collector Alessandro Cesario contributing to the studio's approach and the bar's accumulation of sports trophies, trunks, hatboxes and vintage furnishings. Acharacter acquired the property in 2021. The Doping Bar then won Bargiornale's Barawards title for Hotel Bar of the Year in 2022. Nicola Romiti arrived as bar manager at the end of 2023 after beginning his career around Fossombrone, moving to Milan in 2018 and rising to bar manager at Carlo e Camilla in Segheria before a subsequent tenure at Tinto in Fano. His first Doping list explored twelve folk dances, supported by head bartender Alessandro Cuomo, bartender Andrea Lucanera and five new team members. A fourteen-drink Solar System project followed in 2024. The hotel closed in late 2025 for comprehensive renewal and returned in March 2026 with 35 rooms and suites; The Doping reopened with its public main bar and pergola plus a private members' room.
Fiat 500, Fiat Topolino, Lancia Delta, Alfa Giulietta Spider, Lamborghini Miura and Ferrari Testarossa now supply the names for a cocktail sequence inspired by vintage automobiles, extending the bar's established practice of rebuilding its drinks around a single changing theme.
